Saturday 22nd September 2007: No RLCGA success at the Commonwealth
Spoons Finals at Tain ( A wee video )!!
|
Shirley
McKnight / Valerie MacKinnon (Old Ranfurly), Maureen Cook (Lochwinnoch)
/ Jane Thomson (Whitecraigs) and Fiona Roger / Carol Fell (Ranfurly
Castle) -- pictured left represented Renfrewshire in the
Commonwealth Spoons Finals at Tain Golf Course on Thursday.
On an exceedingly difficult course and on reflection a practice round
required, unfortunately none of the representatives for Renfrewshire
were prizewinners. The scoring was high by everyone with the
winners being Mary Robinson and Sheila McCrae from Aberdeenshire with a
net 76.
However, we all had a great time and stayed overnight in Dornoch and
dined out the evening before. Shirley and Valerie were accompanied
by their husbands and ate at the Eagle Hotel where we were staying. The
rest of us met up with Kay Black and her husband Peter and dined
in Kay's sisters restaurant --- The Sutherland House Restaurant

RLCGA's Honorary Member Maureen Richmond (Kilmacolm)
the 1974 Curtis Cup player and now a GP in Lancashire, came joint 15th

Give Maureen, winner of the Spanish open seniors title earlier in the

finished runner-up for the title!

connections to south west Scotland, wins her third seniors title this
year, with scores of 80-74-75, (+10) 229.
Noreen Fenton (Merchant of Edinburgh) was the best Scot with 3
steady rounds of 79 each and finished in 4th place on 237
Final scores:
229 A Murdoch (Can) 80 74 75.
