Sunday 1st April 2007: Your Webmaster has just had a wonderful score --- The best ever

I know I am quite reserved in not saying too much if I ever have a good score -- which is a rare event. However, I think I should tell you all that I have just had the best score ever at Ranfurly Castle. I have just shot a Gross 74 net 64 in our latest Medal round.
Perhaps you would like to know the details of my round by clicking on the following link.  Carols Score Card

I hope in Renfrewshire some of our members can  get a few scores in like this one!

GLOBESPAN AND GOLF CLUBS

bulletHelen Faulds (Douglas Park) and Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) went to Portugal for a golfing holiday on Sunday 18th March. They flew with Globespan who left their golf clubs in Glasgow because of overloading. This is happening more frequently ---- SO ALL GOLFERS BEWARE !!! --- 25 sets were left in Glasgow

Helen got her clubs 48 hours later on the Tuesday and the Fells got their clubs on Wednesday afternoon on their return from the golf (after hiring and then sharing clubs) --- 72 hours later.

On the Homeward journey to Glasgow today everyone on the flight had their golf clubs left at Faro !! --- Approx 50 sets of Clubs ---

So PLEASE BE AWARE of the problem and make sure you are covered in your travel insurance for the extra cost of hiring clubs etc

I THINK WE MUST LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT ALTHOUGH YOU PAY £30 TO BOOK YOUR CLUBS ON A FLIGHT (which we did in October 2006) ---

--- THIS IS WHAT GLOBESPAN SAY :May we refer you to our Terms and Conditions which clearly states:

'Sporting Equipment
Sporting equipment is carried on a limited release basis, i.e. entirely at
your own risk for loss, damage or delay.
IMPORTANT
Sporting equipment will be carried subject to load and as such we cannot guarantee space on the flight on which you are booked for such items. In the unlikely event that space is not available, the equipment will be sent on the next flight with available space.'

SO ALL GOLFERS BE AWARE
However, I strongly feel that perhaps we should let more people know of the problem so if you have something to say then please email me at webmaster@rlcga.com and perhaps I can let the newspapers know of the problem

PS: Carol met Ken and Maureen Mitchell (Cathcart Castle) in Vilamoura in Bar Nautica --- and had a wee chat !!

Saturday 17th March 2007:MEGAN ENTERS THE LEVERET TROPHY
AT FORMBY ON MARCH 31st

Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) and Claire Macdonald (Gullane Ladies) are the only two Scots who have entered the Leveret Trophy, one of the top 36-hole women's open tournaments in England.
Organised by former Scottish champion Fiona Anderson, the annual event at Formby Golf Club will be played on March 31 this year.
"It's a great field this year with eight players playing off a handicap of scratch or better and 57 with less than five of a handicap so that's going to be the limit," said Fiona.
"I deliberately arrange the Leveret Trophy for an early date on the golfing calendar. It means that those players who cannot nip off abroad and practise can still get a good competition under their belts before the 'Helen Holm' or their county championships or their nationals. Those who have been abroad can test their skills while re-acclimatising."

Thanks go to Colin Farquharson for the news

Thursday 16th March 2007: The RLCGA County Dinner at Haggs Castle Golf Club

Beth Paterson, Sir Craig Reedie and Christeen Finlayson

74 Ladies attended the RLCGA County dinner last night at Haggs Castle Golf Club. Captain Beth chaired the event and welcomed everyone to the dinner especially Brenda Stewart, Anne Robinson and Dorothea Hastings who all made it to the dinner after all being "thro' the mill" over the winter months.
The guest speaker was Sir Craig Reedie who gave an amusing resume of the Olympic story so far. Vice Captain, Christeen Finlayson gave the vote of thanks and suggested that perhaps there may well be "some dope testing" at the 1st RLCGA Medal  !!!"
Craig was presented with an unknown "pressie" and his wife Rosemary from Ranfurly Castle was presented with a beautiful flower arrangement that had been made by Maureen Mitchell from Old Ranfurly

A GOOD NIGHT WAS HAD BY ALL.

Thanks go to Haggs Castle Golf Club and their staff for a beautiful meal and for the use of the clubhouse.

Monday 5th March 2007: Post your Golf Club News from this website

I thought I would let you all know I have set up a "weblog"  better known as a "blog" at www.westscotlandladiesgolf.com for golf news from golf clubs around the West of Scotland. There is also a direct link on this website, if you click on the above link on the RHS that says Golf Club News
The idea of the site is that any news from golf clubs could go onto this web area. eg someone in your club may have had a hole in one or has just become a granny ! etc. Also this is an area  to advertise your own Golf Club Open Day and have a downloadable entry form placed on it --- You will see I have 2 Open Days on so far.
Plus, whoever is sending in their Glasgow Herald Golf Club Return by email, can also send an additional copy  at the same time to me at webmaster@rlcga.com

If you would like to become a "blogger" then contact me and I will help you through the set up so you can add your own news with photographs and the post will be in your name.
